ART EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE |
|
Art Education and Work Experience are integral part of school curriculum. Specialised teachers handle these classes performing Visual and Creative Arts, Music, Dance, Wall Magazine, Story-Writing, Play-Writing, Hand-Written Magazine 'ACONE', Drawing, Painting and Paper-craft are some of the activities undertaken in Art Education. Photography, Typewriting, Interior Decoration, Home Science, Gardening, Notice Board Display are some of the programmes in the elective areas of Work Experience. In the essential area are Health and Hygiene, Cleanliness of the School Compound, Recreations and Celebrations. For the Primary Division the activities of the children's workshop involve an element of play.

CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES CLUB HOUSE CONCEPT |
|
Co-curricular activities such as Music, Dancing, Dramatics, Karate, Yoga, Elocution & Choral Speaking, Debates and Declamation, Quizzes, Projects are organised from time to time, for a child to develop into a well balanced personality. The school also encourages adventure activities such as hiking and camping. This concept has been introduced for children to relax during their free hours, while they play billiards, table-tennis and other indoor games. |

PHYSICAL EDUCATION GYMNASIUM |
|
For a child to develop into a well balanced personality, both indoor and outdoor sporting facilities are provided and students are encouraged to balance their academic work with sports. The students are taken to Table-Land where they partake in various games for two hours. Games sessions concentrate upon the teaching of basic skills as well as competitions held on Inter-House/School basis. Present sports/games include: Athletics, Basketball, Throw-ball, Vollyball, Tennis, Hockey, football, Cricket, Badminton, Skating, Kho-Kho, Dodge-ball. Indoor games like Chess, Carom, Table-Tennis, Billiards, etc. Pinewoods has a Swimming Pool and Swimming is taught under supervision of qualified coach. Since all these events are organised on an Inter-House Championship level the spirit of competitiveness is very keen and hence results outstanding. Schools gymnasium is fully equipped with the latest gadgets for students to remain fit under a qualified gymnast.

HOBBIES |
|
The school believes in providing every opportunity to develop their creative and artistic talent, for which hobby classes are conducted. Children are encouraged to enroll in classes where their true potential can be genuinely tapped. Their creations are displayed in Art & Craft exhibitions held each year. |

|
DUKE OF EDINBURGH AWARD SCHEME |
|
This is a voluntary scheme which is organized throughout the Commonwealth preparing youngsters for Gold, Silver and Bronze awards. Scheme involves hikes, skills, hobbies, First-Aid, Home-Nursing, etc. Students aged 14 years and above are eligible for this scheme. |

SCHOOL MAGAZINE/ FORTHNIGHTLY SUPPLEMENTS |
|
The school issues an annual School Miscellany "The Pinewoodian" contacting contributions from students and teachers. This medium has been instrumental in developing Literary, Artistic and Aesthetic talents of the students of different age-groups. The Miscellany also gives an annual report of the activities conducted and the progress made by the school in different areas. News bulletins are issued in a fortnightly 'ACONE' in which students bring out their ideas, jokes, howlers, etc. |

ENVIRONMENT CLUB |
|
The Environment Club of the school functions with the aim of creating an interest and awareness of environment, conserving and sense of belonging to the local and global environment. |

||

HOUSES |
|
The students have been divided into three houses, viz: Nehru, Sarojini and Tagore. The are identified by different colours and extra curricular activities are conducted house-wise. |

STUDENTS PARTICIPATION |
|
The students participation in curricular activities has become an integral part of education. It contributes to the development of the total personality of the child by inculcating a sense of responsibility and discipline. |

RELIGION |
|
The school is secular and as a policy, endeavors to admit children from all parts of the country representing all religious, creed and faith. It provides no religious instructions, but has a daily assembly which consists of secular prayers and congregational singing of secular and patriotic hymns and daily talk on moral and ethical issues. |

OUTINGS AND TOURS |
|
PARENTS GUARDIANS ARE REQUESTED TO GET THEIR CHILD CHILDREN WARD'S PASSPORT MADE ONCE
HE/ SHE IS ADMITTED IN THE SCHOOL.Every attempt is made to keep the children occupied fruitfully during their free time. Besides picnics to surrounding areas, children are also taken out on regular walks to places of interest under the supervision of teacher. The school aims at exposing the students to the diverse cultures of India and Abroad and hence takes them on conducted tours to various countries and sites of interest. While arranging a tour, the children's comfort is always kept in mind. These tours are conducted every year and parents are intimated well in advance. |

WEEKENDS MARKETING |
|
During the weekends there is a programme of entertainment as well as class-outing (Marketing). Entertainments include video films, talent contests, parties, fancy-dress or fashion shows and other programmes organisd by a committee of Secondary pupils. |

BIRTHDAY PARTIES |
|
The school can arrange Birthday Parties for children if the parents write to this effect, a fortnight in advance, and remit Rs.1,500/- by Demand Draft. |
|
|
||
|
COUNSELLING |
|
Counselling services are offered to the students by trained counsellors well acquainted with students problems. These services are rendered in confidence and students are free to discuss academics, behavioral and vocational pursuits. |

|
||
|
BEHAVIOUR |
|
Pinewoods believes in high standard of politeness, appearance and behavior. A close vigilance is always kept on the students so that they inculcate a habit in them to conduct themselves and the school. Staff share a responsibility to ensure that good discipline is maintained. We believe that a happy and positive environment will result from a structure of order and discipline. |

|
STUDENTS COUNCIL |
|
It is very essential for a child to develop qualities of leadership, and only by giving children authority they are also given responsibility. By giving responsibility we enable them to exercise initiative and enthusiasm and emerge as individuals strong enough to face the challenges in life. Therefore it is the convention of the school to elect a Student Council every academic year. This Student Council is made up of the School Captain and Prefects holding various posts. The Students Council meets every Saturday under the supervision of a teacher and discusses the problems, if any, of the students, helps to maintain discipline, arrange extra-curricular activities and other topics that may arise. The Students Council is always encouraged to voice its opinion regarding matters related to the students. |
